20/20 Tonight!

Hi all,

I just saw a commercial for the 20/20 that's on tonight on ABC and the topic is how to get rich with Real Estate and "Do you need an Agent"?

Not sure where they are going with this but it should be an interesting watch, to say the least!

After the 60 Minutes one sided adventure I'm curious to see where and who they will focus their interviews on.

Just thought you might want to see it!

Maybe I will watch it and get together some good arguments for why you do need a Realtor. Is it on any perticular market or just in general?

Maurice, thank you for commenting!  I totally missed your post on this and I even did a search....ummm.

Patricia, not sure, but probably worth watching!

20/20 is on the realtor um? Might be worth watching, 'cause I don't think they are going to get off realtors and real estate situations due to the problems we are now facing.

I never miss 20/20 and will be anxious to watch.  I hope it's not a totally sensationalized story where they only examine one point of view.

Ana, can you tell me why the media is giving us such a hard time?  :o

All I can say is let them quit their day jobs and become real estate agent if it's so easy.

This show was produced two years ago, in a dramatically different market. It's not so easy to sell a home without a professional today and Realtors® have unrivaled experience in this kind of market. Homeowners who sold their home with the help of a professional averaged 16% more on the sale of their home than those who went it alone. In contrast to the small study recently released about Madison, Wisconsin-these are findings of a national survey of more than 3,000 transactions. The real estate industry has harnessed technology to the benefit of consumers, and will continue to do so. Real estate is both high tech and high touch. There is no such thing as a "standard commission." Commissions are negotiable and prices vary. The fact is that commission rates have decreased 16% from 1991 to 2004 (Source real trends)

I thought the segment about renters should buy instead of rent was interesting.
